| Summit Picks Bayona To Direct Twilight Threequel 'Eclipse': Will Fans Say Olé?CITAZIONE I can confirm that Summit Entertainment is telling Hollywood privately that Juan Antonio Bayona will direct Eclipse. It's a very out-of-the-box choice for the 3rd movie in the "Twilight Saga" series of Stephenie Meyer vampire novels being hurried to the big screen by the start-up studio. (I guess it doesn't matter that other sources tell me Bayona hasn't yet met Stephenie, huh?) Known as a horror wunderkjind and Guillermo Del Toro protege, the age 33 Bayona screened his Spanish language Gothic mystery El Orfanato (The Orphanage) to a 10-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. Eclipse is his English language debut. Chris Weitz has already replaced Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke on the sequel New Moon due in November. Eclipse is set for release June 30, 2010, and features battles between werewolves and vampires. Now the question is whether the Twilight fans and Stephenie Meyer will say "Olé". E’ Variety a confermare quello che fino a ieri sembrava un rumor in cerca di conferme; sarà proprio Juan Antonio Bayona, regista di The Orphanage, ad occuparsi della regia del terzo film della saga “Twilight“, “Eclipse“, che verrà prodotto appena termineranno le riprese del secondo film “New Moon“, per uscirne solo sette mesi dopo. Bayona è un regista pupillo del grande Guillermo Del Toro, che gli ha prodotto il recente ed apprezzatissimo horror “The Orphanage”; Bayona comunque non lascerà da parte il cinema di un certo genere poichè a breve un thriller per la Universal, “Hater“, alla cui produzione troviamo sempre Del Toro. Quindi ora tutte le voci sull’interessamento di Drew Barrymore al timone del terzo film sono state messe a tacere. Come sappiamo da tempo, la Summit ha fissato anche la data di uscita per “Eclipse”: vedremo il film a partire dal 30 Giugno 2010. Secondo il piano dell’astuta casa di produzione, infatti, il 20 Novembre 2009 uscirà “New Moon” e in quel periodo inizieranno le riprese di “Eclipse“. Che dire... Vedremo...
